The 1918 flu pandemic, commonly referred to as the Spanish flu, spread over the entire world. Estimates of death range from 20 to 100 million people. In Minnesota 33,204 people died of all causes. That number of deaths was not seen again until 1960.
The Minnesota Public Safety Commission planned a series of liberty concerts that were canceled to stop the spread of the flu.
